Wagh Bakri Tea Group, a prominent name in the Indian tea industry, is to invest over ₹100 crore in a new manufacturing facility in Dakor, Gujarat. This move is at boosting the company’s production capabilities and enhancing storage capacity.
Investment and New Facility Details
The new manufacturing unit will focus on expanding the company’s instant tea production and raw material storage. With an Automatic Stock Retrieval System (ASRS), the plant is to commence operations by the third quarter of 2025. This state-of-the-art system will significantly streamline the storage and retrieval process, ensuring greater efficiency.
Increased Production Capacity
Currently, Wagh Bakri Tea produces around 3,000–4,000 packets of instant tea daily. the new facility is operational, the production capacity is to soar to approximately 20,000 packets per day. This expansion will cater to the increasing consumer demand for instant tea, both domestically and internationally.
Enhanced Storage Capacity
To production, the storage capacity of the new facility will be substantially increased by 50%. This will accommodate up to 1.8 million chests, each holding between 14 and 20 kg of tea. With this enhanced storage, Wagh Bakri Tea will ensure smoother supply chain operations and maintain a steady flow of quality products.
Strategic Digitization and Market Expansion
Beyond manufacturing, Wagh Bakri Tea is focusing on digitization and e-commerce expansion. The company plans to continue enhancing its online presence to meet the growing consumer base in the digital age. Furthermore, Wagh Bakri Tea is to opening new tea lounges, with the aim of adding a couple of new locations each quarter.
