Madhya Pradesh has introduced its Logistics Policy 2025, aiming to develop a world-class logistics ecosystem that reduces costs and enhances efficiency. The policy focuses on improving infrastructure, attracting investments, and making the state a major logistics hub by 2030.
Government’s Vision for Logistics Development
The Madhya Pradesh government has set ambitious goals for logistics growth by leveraging data-driven decision-making and offering substantial financial incentives. The state plans to reduce logistics costs to globally competitive levels, ensuring economic growth and industrial expansion. The government also seeks to strengthen multi-modal connectivity, enhance supply chain resilience, and create job opportunities.
Investment Assistance for Logistics Infrastructure
To encourage private sector participation, the policy offers financial support for developing logistics parks, inland container depots, and dry ports. Investors developing logistics parks covering 25 to 75 acres can receive assistance of up to ₹50 crore, while those exceeding 75 acres qualify for ₹75 crore. The government also provides additional incentives for green logistics initiatives, offering up to ₹20 lakh for projects obtaining IGBC Green Logistics Park certification.
Support for External Infrastructure Development
Recognizing the need for better connectivity, the government provides financial assistance for road and rail infrastructure development near logistics hubs. Developers can receive up to ₹5 crore as reimbursement for expenses incurred in constructing external roads or railway links. This initiative ensures seamless transportation, reducing transit times and improving overall efficiency.
Land Allotment and Stamp Duty Benefits
To streamline project development, the government facilitates land allotment in industrial zones on a first-come, first-served basis. Investors benefit from competitive industrial land rates, ensuring cost-effective project execution. Additionally, the policy grants a 100% reimbursement of stamp duty and registration fees for mortgage instruments and land purchases related to logistics and warehousing projects. These incentives lower the financial burden on investors, encouraging large-scale developments.
Multi-Modal Logistics Park in Pithampur
A major highlight of the policy is the state’s first Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) near Pithampur, strategically located close to Indore. Covering 255.17 acres, this facility will enhance cargo movement and strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s position as a key logistics hub. The MMLP, implemented in three phases, aims to handle 12.79 million metric tonnes of cargo over a 45-year period. The first phase is for completion by 2025, ensuring rapid infrastructure development.
Economic Impact and Future Prospects
Madhya Pradesh’s Logistics Policy 2025 is to attract significant investments, create employment opportunities, and boost industrial competitiveness. By reducing logistics costs, improving connectivity, and enhancing infrastructure, the state aims to become a leading logistics hub in India. With its strategic initiatives, Madhya Pradesh is to drive economic growth and strengthen its supply chain network in the coming years.
