EV Deployment Strengthens Green Logistics Strategy

JK Lakshmi Cement’s new electric vehicle fleet will operate between its JK Puram Plant in Sirohi, Rajasthan, and the Kalol Grinding Unit in Gujarat. This development follows a successful pilot project that validated the environmental and operational viability of EVs in industrial logistics. The pilot project delivered measurable reductions in carbon emissions while ensuring high levels of operational efficiency, reinforcing the company’s faith in this sustainable logistics model.

Moreover, this strategic collaboration with SwitchLabs Automobiles allows JK Lakshmi Cement to modernize its transportation system without compromising performance. By integrating clean mobility solutions, the company is not only cutting emissions but also setting an important precedent for the broader cement sector in India.

Leadership Emphasizes Sustainability Vision

Arun Shukla, President and Director of JK Lakshmi Cement, highlighted the importance of sustainability in the company’s long-term vision. He emphasized that the adoption of electric vehicles aligns with their goal of driving innovation while minimizing their environmental impact. This partnership with SwitchLabs reflects a deliberate focus on both ecological responsibility and operational modernization.

According to Shukla, JK Lakshmi Cement intends to lead by example and motivate other industry players to embrace cleaner technologies. The integration of EVs signifies not just a transition in logistics practices but a broader commitment to building a greener, more sustainable future.

Supporting India’s Push for Clean Mobility

This move by JK Lakshmi Cement complements India’s national agenda for cleaner and more energy-efficient transportation infrastructure. As the country accelerates its transition to electric mobility, initiatives like this one show how private sector players can contribute meaningfully.

In fact, JK Lakshmi Cement is proving that environmental responsibility and business efficiency can coexist. The company’s actions demonstrate how industry leaders can balance growth with sustainability by leveraging innovation and partnerships. Through this EV rollout, the firm is doing more than reducing emissions—it is reshaping expectations in the cement sector.

A Legacy of Innovation and Expansion

JK Lakshmi Cement, a part of the 135-year-old JK Organisation, began operations in 1982 and has since grown exponentially. Today, the company has established a robust presence across Northern, Western, and Eastern India. With an installed cement manufacturing capacity of 16.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), the company aims to increase its capacity to 30 million tonnes by 2030.

In addition to cement, the firm’s product portfolio includes ready-mix concrete, gypsum plaster, wall putty, and autoclaved aerated fly ash blocks. These offerings reflect the company’s drive for innovation and diversification in the building materials sector.

Expanding Green Transport Beyond EVs

Apart from electric vehicles, JK Lakshmi Cement has also introduced Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) trucks to further cut emissions in logistics. The LNG deployment aims to reduce emissions by approximately 270 metric tons annually. These complementary strategies illustrate the company’s multifaceted approach to decarbonizing its supply chain.

Furthermore, JK Lakshmi Cement has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2047. It also plans to meet 100% of its electricity requirements from renewable energy sources by 2040. These long-term sustainability goals are deeply embedded in the company’s operations and growth plans.

Conclusion: Cementing Leadership in Sustainable Logistics

With the adoption of electric vehicles and other clean technologies, JK Lakshmi Cement has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship. By taking measurable actions, the company is not only enhancing its logistics operations but also contributing to India’s sustainability goals. Through strategic innovation and leadership, JK Lakshmi Cement continues to shape a greener future for the cement industry.
