In a significant stride toward future-ready supply chain transformation. Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has launched its first-ever vertical storage warehouse in Bhiwandi. Maharashtra. This state-of-the-art facility, built under Project Parivartan, marks a major shift in the company’s logistics strategy by combining smart infrastructure. Cutting-edge automation, and sustainable design.
Spanning across 2.84 lakh square feet, the Bhiwandi warehouse reflects GCPL’s commitment to efficiency, scalability, and advanced supply chain practices. Positioned as a central hub for western India. The facility is engineered to support the evolving needs of GCPL’s distribution network across Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.
A Major Leap Under Project Parivartan
With the Bhiwandi launch, GCPL demonstrates tangible progress under Project Parivartan. Its ongoing initiative to revamp and future-proof its supply chain. Over the last 18 months, the company has transformed most of its key logistics hubs. Into Grade A facilities, enabling quicker deliveries and smoother operations.
Saurabh Jhawar, Head – Product Supply Organisation, India & SAARC at GCPL, says: The launch of our first vertical storage warehouse is a transformative step. In our journey toward building a smart, agile and future-ready supply chain. In just 18 months under Project Parivartan, we have upgraded a majority of our key logistics hubs to Grade A facilities. This new warehouse in Maharashtra stands as a beacon of our commitment to operational excellence. Digital integration, and sustainable growth – allowing us to serve our consumers with enhanced speed, safety, and care.
Cutting-Edge Vertical Storage Design
The newly launched warehouse features a G+6 vertical racking system with over 3,200 pallet positions. Optimizing storage within a compact footprint. Unlike conventional single-level layouts, this vertical model maximizes storage capacity while maintaining a smaller physical footprint, which directly contributes to environmental and operational efficiency.
In addition, the warehouse includes angular docks and dock levellers, designed to streamline material movement and reduce turnaround time for incoming and outgoing shipments.
Technology and Safety at the Core
GCPL has integrated AI and ML-based monitoring systems to ensure precision, security, and operational efficiency at every stage. The warehouse also features IR-based fire alarm systems, temperature and gas sensors, and a centralized warehouse control centre, making it one of the safest logistics environments in the region.
These technologies not only improve visibility into warehouse operations but also enable predictive maintenance and real-time decision-making, significantly reducing the risk of disruptions.
Meeting Daily Demands with High Throughput
One of the most impressive aspects of this facility lies in its operational capabilities. GCPL designed the warehouse to handle over 60,000 cases per day, ensuring that inventory flows seamlessly from suppliers to retailers without delay.
Such capacity is crucial, especially considering the seasonal and high-volume demands of consumer goods. The setup ensures faster turnaround times, lower operational costs, and improved service levels across the supply chain.
A Strategic Hub for Western India
Located in Bhiwandi, a key logistics hotspot in Maharashtra, the warehouse serves as a regional distribution centre for four major states. Its strategic position enhances GCPL’s ability to reach urban and rural markets quickly, strengthening its regional presence.
This initiative not only boosts service quality but also aligns with the company’s broader goal of improving last-mile delivery efficiency across India.
Expanding Horizons with Integrated Facilities
Alongside the warehouse launch, GCPL recently inaugurated its first integrated greenfield manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu, further underlining its long-term commitment to growth. The Tamil Nadu facility will manufacture well-known brands such as Cinthol, Godrej No.1, Goodknight, Godrej aer, and Godrej Expert Hair Colour.
Together, these two initiatives signal a coordinated push toward end-to-end supply chain modernization, from production to storage and distribution.
Conclusion: A Future-Ready Supply Chain Vision
By launching its first vertical storage warehouse in Bhiwandi, GCPL has taken a bold and strategic step toward building a tech-enabled, agile, and sustainable supply chain. With innovations in automation, safety, and storage design, the facility sets a new industry benchmark.
As Project Parivartan continues, GCPL positions itself to lead the next era of supply chain excellence in the Indian consumer goods sector.
